As a leader, particularly at the executive level, you are successful because you know how to listen and let go of pre-conceived notions quickly. You often assess, without judgment, what you are not good at, and seek an expert to advise you. You have learned that this perspective is very beneficial. There are generally two reasons executives retain Courageous Change services:

  1. You want the advantage of an outside perspective for specific projects or issues.
  2. You anticipate you will activate a job search soon and you want to get a head start.
EXECUTIVE COACHING

GAINING AN OUTSIDE PERSPECTIVE

Executives often seek me out because I bring to the table not only thought leadership, but also a strategic and systematic approach to change. If you are a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of executive, I am not a good fit for you. On the other hand, if you succeed through assessing your current situation and developing a plan with measurable outcomes, then my work is compatible with your working style.

ANTICIPATING A CAREER MOVE SOON

If you are the type of Executive who plans ahead, if you see the writing on the wall, and if you know you will be let go, my fees can be negotiated as part of the severance package. If on the other hand you clearly see that your work is complete and it’s time to seek another opportunity, then now is the time to act. You know there are fewer opportunities at your level, making your search more difficult. I show executives how to search smarter, more discreetly, and with better results.

COMPELLING COMMUNICATION

Some leaders are naturally charismatic. Others have to be taught.  Courageous Change offers both one-on-one coaching and group coaching for leaders to be more compelling, more charismatic, and more courageous.  This coaching is primarily focused on  how to be fully present to others, particularly the non-verbal clues of their listener(s).  Yes, I will teach leaders how to organize a talk, how to tell a better story, and how to put together a powerful call to action.  Yet, one of the mistakes that leaders make is they think they have to memorize.  By memorizing they risk losing their audience by sounding inauthentic.  Charisma is actually reflecting back to the audience what you the leader are seeing in them.  Performance-based speaking is great with content, but can be poor with rapport building.  If you want to persuade your audience to follow you, then being fully present to others is essential.

We meet for an initial 90-minute assessment of what you want to accomplish, and then I custom design a program specific to your needs.

Custom programs are also available for other communication issues including sales, operations, and teaching new managers how to lead.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Offered in one hour, half-day, or full-day training with follow-up to ensure concepts work on an ongoing basis.  As your presenter, I first meet with you to determine what you want to accomplish with a Courageous Change speaking program, send a pre-event survey to the participants, and then custom design a program to meet the objectives we have planned.  If the program is related to change management, I add group accountability meetings (usually by phone) every three weeks to ensure that the call-to-action from the program actually comes to life.  Group accountability meetings (usually by phone) keeps momentum going.  At each facilitated meeting, we ask 3 simple questions:  What’s working?  What issues do you want to address with the group to resolve?  What are you committing to accomplish over the next 3 weeks?  Length of follow-up meetings are 45 – 60 minutes long.

Custom programs are also available for other communication issues including sales, operations, and new manager training.  Programs have included improving morale, facilitating communication between departments, and eliminating barriers to effective communication.  Let’s talk about your specific challenges.

RETREATS

Offsite retreats are an excellent tool to give your group a fresh perspective on how to accomplish your goals.  As your facilitator, I first meet with your leadership team to determine your retreat purpose, design a pre-event questionnaire for the participants, and then custom design a program to provide participants with an excellent experience.

Then I offer group accountability meetings (usually by phone) to ensure that  the forward movement accomplished at the retreat continues.  These groups meet every three weeks and last 45 to 60 minutes.  Each time we ask 3 simple questions:  What’s working?  How do you want to use the group?  What are you committing to accomplish over the next 3 weeks?

Past custom programs have included improving morale, facilitating communication between departments, and leadership training.  Let’s talk about your specific challenges.

TALENT RESOURCES

How do you manage:

  1. The Rising Stars who you don’t want to lose to the competition?
  2. Professionals who are good enough yet you want more productivity?
  3. Professionals who are either in a wrong-fit job or you want to move out?

Courageous Change Consulting offers services to keep your Rising Stars, improve the okay performers, and transition wrong-fit workers out of your organization.

  1. Rising Stars – These workers are self-directed, constantly learning, critical thinkers, and highly motivated to succeed. It is easy to neglect these workers because they practically lead themselves.  Big mistake. If you don’t know what motivates this worker, you are at risk of losing them before they accomplish your goals.  If you don’t have a retention plan or professional development plan, these rising stars will last about two years before a recruiter lures them away.  I coach rising stars to never shut down their network.  They are growing professionally within your organization, and they also are staying connected to potential opportunity outside of your organization. You, as their leader, are probably doing the same thing, too. Yet you are specifically hired to get results for your organization.  How do you keep your Rising Stars from looking elsewhere?  I offer two solutions.  One is to coach this worker individually to keep succeeding within your organization.  Or two, provide Executive Coaching to you, the leader.  After the originally assessment, I offer solutions that range from 60 days long to 10 months or longer.

  2. Good Enough Performers – These workers are generally compliant, loyal, and accomplish the day-to-day functions within the minimum standards set. Yet you suspect you could get more from them and somehow your employee engagement programs haven’t worked. For optimal performance, understanding what triggers increased performance is essential.  One size does not fit all, and some incentive programs can be counterproductive.  How then do you get more from your Good Enough Workers?  The solution I offer is to work individually with your good-enough worker for 4 – 6 months to direct them to create a Career Development Plan to advance and to improve with measurable results.

  3. Moving Professionals Laterally or Out Altogether. Underperforming professionals drag the morale down for everyone. If they are in the wrong-fit job, I can quickly assess that, and even help them create an internal career plan to help them transition to something better within your organization.  But if the professional needs to be moved out of your organization altogether, I offer transition services that are better than outplacement.  My transition programs offer processing the shock of job loss, providing in-depth assessment, creating a focus before the strategies and tactics of a job search are implemented.  Tactics include a new resume, cover letters, how to job hunt, how to answer job interviews and how to salary negotiate.  Strategies include how to influence movers and shakers into the job candidate’s cause, how to create positions that are not advertised, and how to overcome obstacles to success.  Even though I offer in-depth career transition services, it is at a fraction of the cost while being more in-depth than traditional outplacement.

Let’s talk about your specific talent challenges.
